{Green}

I've written before about my reluctance to decorate with green, and I've since decided to try and inspire myself into feeling warmer towards the colour, especially given its versatility and ability to set the mood of a whole scheme. To me, the green door (1) screams of a place that has a rustic charm that's also a friendly, welcoming environment, whereas the clashing animal patterns in lime and dark greens (2), and the bright lime hues of the dining table (5) are both examples that clearly state their owners' eccentric personalities and daring decor choices. These are all equally fab in different ways, but interestingly for me - given I normally gravitate to brights - when it comes to green, I'm all about the softer, darker and more moody hues, just like the tiles seen in the kitchen (9). How about you guys; which shades of green do you like?

  5. I love the green couch. It's just enough of a statement, without being too "in your face"...gorgeous picture!

  6. Hi Will. There is a serious lack of green in my home. I attribute this to 11 years in the Army and an unshakeable belief that the only good green is in the garden or on a salad plate! This from someone with green eyes! Having said that, I quite like that shabby green door and I am wearing an olive green cardi at the moment...go figure!

  7. In the right hue, green can be gorgeous, but I can't say I've done much decorating with it. However, a handful of the images above have me reconsidering. =) Have a lovely week.

  10. I like green, but I tend to gravitate towards the blue based greens and not the yellow based greens. And I don't really like when the 2 are mixed...
    IE I love the zebra wallcovering in the second picture, but I don't think the coloration of the headboard works well with it.

  11. I don't know, Will, I think I'd feel pretty unconfortable with all of these. Green, to me has to be used in a more sophisticated (read mature)way in order to be palatable. The hues in the last picture are more of my taste, but used differently in a more traditional or even bohemian setting.

  13. Green is my favorite color, but I agree on the darker hues. I either like a dark green or a true Crayola green that is just plain.

    Anything super bright or tropical usually comes off as cheap.

  15. I too am reluctant to decorate with green, but I find the green I am most attracted to in other people's spaces is Kelly green! Like that lovely hallway featured in domino draped in Kelly green Imperial Trellis wallpaper!

  18. In general, green tones are healing...they are beneficial to help you relaxed and centered. Don't push them away!
